CONSUMER OUTREACH

Being the "Voice for Real Estate" -- promoting market statistics and/or real estate trends and issues (e.g., through press releases, interviews, etc., of MLS statistics, local market statistics, NAR research reports, local/state analysis of NAR statistics, etc.)

Community involvement and investment -- promoting the value proposition of using a REALTOR® and/or engaging in community activities which enhance the image of the REALTOR®, such as organizing human resources (e.g., participating in a Habitat for Humanity build) or conducting fundraising activities to benefit local community or charitable organizations.

DIVERSITY EQUITY & INCLUSION

This is a new task force that falls under our Consumer Outreach Committee and is focused on increasing diversity and inclusiveness in our industry  and community.

SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY GROUP

The GPBR Sustainability Advisory Group (SAG) was convened to educate and advise the GPBR, its members, their clients and associates on issues related to climate change and the economic, social and environmental impacts to the real estate industry. The SAG acknowledges climate change and supports efforts by businesses, organizations and government at all levels to undertake reasonable measures to achieve the necessary reductions in C02 and other greenhouse gas emissions. The SAG operates as both an informational resource for members and the public as well as a provider of educational programs and activities. The SAG also monitors, supports and/or actively participates in a wide variety of ongoing efforts being undertaken by communities and professional organizations to develop sustainable standards and practices for building energy efficiency and performance, land use controls and community development, risk assessment and property valuation, and infrastructure resiliency to mitigate impacts in coastal and other vulnerable areas due to increased severe weather events.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The Habitat for Humanity Committee falls under our Consumer Outreach Committee and focuses on supporting the Habitat for Humanity Organization. This committee plans and executes an annual fundraiser in our community, as well as participates in Habitat Build Days. For members passionate about helping others gain access to decent and affordable housing, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with both GPBR and your community.

AFFILIATE ADVISORY GROUP

This is a new Advisory Group branch of Member Benefits that is specifically for Greater Portland Board of Realtors Affiliate Members. It is chaired by the Affiliate Director. The purpose of this Group is to give the Affiliate Members an open forum to discuss their current benefits within the board, brainstorm additional initiatives, and ways to further affiliate engagement and community throughout the year.

MEMBER BENEFITS & EDUCATION

This committee’s goals would be to promote the REALTOR® value proposition to our members – this would include new member orientations, affiliate membership, education, and internal communications promoting member programs, products and services.

LEGISLATIVE & POLITICAL ADVOCACY

The purpose of this committee is to monitor local government activities as they influence and affect the rights of private property owners and the interests of the real estate industry. Members of this committee should have experience with or interest in public policy or politics, and be willing to monitor issues and attend public meetings as necessary. Members should also be familiar with policy and issues pertaining to the real estate industry, and support a non-partisan REALTOR® Party approach to issues.
